Seawater refreshment time case study

This case study involves estimating seawater refreshment time in Gemlik Bay (Marmara Sea) to formulate better adaptive strategies to address the consequences of climate change. The aim is to develop predictive models for a better understanding of the mechanisms by which climate change affects the meteo-marine forcing and its impacts on coastal processes, with linked authorities including the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Ministry of Environment Urbanization and Climate Change, and another marine institute. The research to be developed includes the use of ADCP 150 kHz current profiler, concurrent meteorological data, water sampling carousel with sensors, and remote sensing techniques and MITgcm. Involved partners include UNIVPM/Hydraulics and Coastal Engineering Lab and TUBITAK MRC.
