Small lab-scale smart irrigation system

This case study focuses on optimizing water usage in an irrigation system using microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators. The goal is to provide an efficient and effective water usage solution to prevent overuse of irrigation water, with end users including irrigation associations and farmers. Linked authorities include farmers, irrigation unions, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The research to be developed includes automatically starting/stopping water pumps on the irrigation site based on the soil moisture content acquired from the moisture content sensor as well as the ultrasonic sensor measuring the water level in the reservoir, along with a user-friendly Graphical User Interface for real-time monitoring and interaction. Involved partners include UVIC and TUBITAK MRC.
